SBCC Secures Convincing Road Win at Canyons

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — The Vaqueros led wire-to-wire, earning a 62–46 road victory over Canyons on Friday behind balanced scoring and strong defensive effort.
Santa Barbara jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Canyons 21–7 in the first quarter and never trailing, as the Vaqueros' defense limited the home team to just 46 points while capitalising on turnovers, scoring 56 points off the Cougars' mistakes.
Khaya Jackson led the Vaqueros with 25 points, shooting 9-of-19 from the field and 3-of-8 from three-point range.
Aariah Fox contributed 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, adding 11 rebounds and four assists to help SBCC control the boards and maintain a comfortable lead throughout the game.
Santa Barbara's balanced attack was highlighted by their bench, which scored 31 points, helping the Vaqueros extend and maintain their lead.
SBCC outrebounded the Cougars 37–36, including 28 points in the paint, while shooting 32% from the field and 24.1% from three-point range.
Strong ball movement led to 15 assists, and the Vaqueros limited their own turnovers to 14, helping preserve control throughout the contest.
Coach Sandrine Krul praised the team's performance, noting that "our defensive intensity led to our offensive scores."
She highlighted Khaya Jackson's impact off the bench, contributing 25 points, and called it a "great team win."
Krul added that the Vaqueros are a "quality 5-5 team" and emphasised that they are "trending up" as they continue the season.
SBCC looks to ride the momentum as they travel to Taft on Friday, Dec. 12, with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m
