San Joaquin Delta edges Vaqueros 8-7 on last-second shot

Jessica Diaz tossed a perfect lob from seven meters with two seconds left on Saturday morning to lift San Joaquin Delta to an 8-7 win over SBCC in the third-place game of the CCCAA Women’s Water Polo State Championships at West Valley College in Saratoga.

Sierra takes down Vaqueros in state semifinal, 10-6

No. 2 Fullerton tops No. 1 Vaqueros for Battle at the Beach title

SBCC beat No. 3 Sierra in a state final rematch on Saturday morning, then fell to No. 2 Fullerton 10-8 in the championship game of the Battle at the Beach women’s water polo tournament at Cerritos College.

Fullerton snaps No. 1 Vaqueros’ 25-game win streak, 10-8

Fullerton went where no women’s water polo team had gone for the last 343 days on Saturday, upsetting No. 1-ranked SBCC 10-8 on the opening day of the Cuesta Rabobank Invitational at Dos Pueblos High.

Goalie Nicole Poulos made five saves vs. Long Beach and Alyssa Russell-Sadoff (white cap) drew five ejections.

SBCC recorded two victories on Friday on the first day of the Riverside College women’s water polo tournament. The Vaqueros (5-0) beat San Joaquin Delta 10-6 and Long Beach 13-8.
