Hannah Cantrell and Chase Creedon, a pair of players on last year's SBCC women's volleyball team, will continue their careers at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks and the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
Cantrell, a 5-11 middle blocker from Santa Ynez High, received financial aid to attend Cal Lutheran. She was interested in playing for the NCAA Div. 3 Regals, got a tryout and made the squad.
Cantrell was first-team All-WSC North in 2015 and honorable mention in 2016. In 2015, she had 121 kills and led the WSC North in blocks with 101, including 41 solo. She helped the Vaqueros go 48-8 in her career and they won two conference titles with a 19-1 record. They finished fifth in the state in 2015.
"Hannah has a very strong work ethic," said SBCC coach Ed Gover. "She's an extremely hard worker and will do what it takes to get better."
Creedon, a 5-4 libero from Berkeley, received both academic and athletic scholarships to play on UOP's beach volleyball team. She redshirted on SBCC's indoor volleyball team in 2015 and played last year. She spent two years playing for the Vaqueros' club beach volleyball team.
"As a beach player, Chase has great knowledge of the game," Gover noted. "She has a wide variety of shots and plays excellent defense."
Creedon will play for the Tigers in the spring of 2018.
