Vaqueros top Marauders 8-1 for third straight win

SBCC swept five of six singles and all three doubles sets on Tuesday for an 8-1 women's tennis victory over Antelope Valley at the Pershing Park courts.

Maddie Seeds avenged a three-set loss to Celsea McGrew with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph in Tuesday's WSC match. Tyler Bunderson, Julianna Adelman, Kassandra Ortiz and Gabrielle Goss also posted singles sweeps, losing just 13 games in eight sets.

Kassandra Ortiz cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, boosting her record to 10-1. Goss and Madison Ortiz raised their perfect record to 9-0 after taking the No. 3 doubles 8-0.

The Vaqueros posted their third straight win and ninth in 10 matches to improve to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in conference, one game behind Glendale. SBCC reached the 10-win plateau for the fifth time in the last seven years.

The Vaqueros will host a Bakersfield in Thursday, then travel to Glendale (8-0) for a first-place showdown in the regular-season finale on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
