Carrick Named Swimmer of the Meet as SBCC Finishes State Runner-Up
SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Lily Carrick was named Women's Swimmer of the Meet at the 2025 3C2A State Swimming and Diving Championships, helping lead Santa Barbara City College to a second-place overall finish. The Vaqueros ended the meet with 424 points, narrowly behind champion Mt. San Antonio College, which claimed its first state title with 440 points.
Carrick capped off a dominant weekend by winning the 1,650-yard freestyle, shattering her personal best by 12 seconds. Teammate Sofia Paez earned a podium finish as well, placing third.
Maddie Myers added silver in the 100 individual medley and bronze in the 100 freestyle.
With the title still up for grabs heading into the final event, Leah Rummelhoff, Myers, Carrick, and Paez delivered a clutch win in the 400 free relay. But Mt. SAC's second-place finish in the same race secured the championship.
Despite the narrow margin, SBCC collected six gold medals—the most of any women's team at the meet.
This marks the third straight year a first-time state champion has been crowned in women's swimming and diving.
