Minnery, Esparza Headline Vaqs’ WSC Honors
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Zoe Minnery was named the Western State Conference North Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and Carolina Esparza earned Co-Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Minnery finished the year leading the WSC in goals (18) and points (40), while Esparza finished tied for third in the WSC in assists (8).
Head coach Alex Zermeno was named Co-Coach of the Year, leading the Vaqs to a 14-4-3 record and an undefeated conference run (9-0-3).
First team all-conference honors went to Holly Willbanks, Cara Christopherson, London Cespedes, Sayln Cutler, and Leilani Sanchez.
Olivia Del Castillo, Izel Servin, Karissa Terrazas, and Natalie Gonzalez collected second team all-conference recognition.
Finally, Cassidy Rosenthal and Sheila Begovic were awarded honorable mentions.
SBCC is the No. 7 seed for the SoCal Regionals and will host the winner of Mira Costa-LA Pierce on Saturday at La Playa Stadium.
