SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The No. 15 Santa Barbara City College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against LA Pierce College on Friday at La Playa Stadium in a conference matchup.
Zoe Minnery tied the game in the 60th minute off an assist from Cara Christopherson. It marks the fifth consecutive game with a goal for the Vaquero winger. She leads the Western State Conference with 11 goals on the season.
Coach Alexander Zermeno shared the team's key focus for the game: "Our key focus was to get a result and compete." He highlighted Cassidy, Karissa, and Ava as players who stepped up during the week. Zermeno noted how he wants his team to approach matches at La Playa Stadium, "Win at home is the mindset. Unfortunately, we tied, but that's the beauty of the game, the better team doesn't always win."
The draw keeps SBCC undefeated in conference play at 4-0-2 and improves their overall record to 9-4-2. The Vaqueros will look to continue their strong season in their next conference matchup against Allan Hancock on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at La Playa Stadium.
