Kaitlyn Crooker has been selected as SBCC's Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2014-15 academic year.
Crooker, a 5-5 sophomore forward from Alameda, came to the Vaquero soccer team last fall after playing her freshman year at NCAA Div. 1 Grand Canyon University. She was the No. 2 scorer in the Western State Conference with 18 goals and five assists.
She earned first-team All-WSC honors for the Vaqueros, who won their second WSC title in the last three years and their first outright crown with records of 14-3-5 and 9-0-3. It's the first time SBCC has ever gone unbeaten in conference play.
Crooker, who wore No. 8 on the pitch, scored two goals in a game eight times and had eight game-winning goals.
Crooker had a perfect 4.0 GPA this year. She will be receiving her AA in Liberal Arts: Science and Mathematics. She is being recruited by various top programs, but has not selected a university.
