Women’s Golf Claims Third Spot at Sterling Hills
CAMARILLO, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College women's golf team shot their best score of the season for third place for the third round of the Western State Conference season on Monday at Sterling Hills Golf Course.
"I thought our ladies played really well. We had three players shoot their best score of the season," said head coach Devin Engebretsen.
Aidie Smith shot a career-best 76 to lead the Vaqueros' effort. Camryn Chapman also claimed a best finish of the season at 88, while Mylee Gonzalez shot a 99.
"Azul Calzadillas beat her previous record by 10 shots," said Engebretsen. "Overall, a great effort by our team. Each golfer improved their score or was near their previous record."
The Vaqueros claimed fourth place on Sept. 8, while Canyons has earned the top spot in every contest so far this season.
"I'm really proud of this group and how they're progressing," said Engebretsen. "Looking forward to getting back to work this week so we can try to win WSC match number four at Rancho Vista Golf Course in Palmdale."
