Men’s Golf Earns Fourth at River Ridge
By Jimmy Friery
OXNARD, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College Men's Golf team placed fourth at Western State Conference (WSC) #5 on Monday, hosted by Ventura at River Ridge Golf Course.
The Vaqueros' 302 was just two strokes off third-place Glendale (300) and three strokes off the second-place hosts, Ventura (299). Monday's round broke Santa Barbara's streak of three consecutive second-place finishes.
After being the top golfer at WSC #4 last week, Reynaldo Rodriguez stayed the Vaqueros' best on Monday, shooting a 74.
Hugo de Mollerat du Jeu and Aidan Watts each were one shot behind, shotting 75s. Brayden Mlodzik and Mason Gredvig each shot a 78 to round out the team's scoring.
Glendale and Ventura benefitted from great individual performances to finally pull ahead of the Vaqueros for a week. Glendale's Gavin Loughran (70) was the best golfer of all 48, and Ventura's Freddie Carcamo (72) tied for second.
A solid month, Santa Barbara concludes March play with three second-place finishes and today's fourth-place finish. After a week off, they compete again on April 6 for WSC #6 hosted by Antelope Valley at Rancho Vista Golf Club.
