Vaqueros Finish Two Strokes off Second in WSC #1
By Jimmy Friery
GLENDALE, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College Men's Golf team shot a 316 on Monday at WSC #1 at Oakmont Country Club, just two strokes off second but unluckily finishing tied for fifth.
Sophomore Hugo de Mollerat du Jeu shot a Vaquero-best 77, tied for ninth among all 48 golfers. Reynaldo Rodriguez followed up his team-leading performance at the Point Conception Open with a close-second 78.
Wyatt Taylor and Braydon Mlodzik shot well, too, finishing with an 80 and 81 respectively.
Behind Canyons' excellent 297, five teams all finished within two strokes of each other. Bakersfield, Citrus, Glendale all ended at 314, with the Vaqueros and Ventura right behind at 316.
Due to inclement weather this coming weekend, WSC #2 at Alisal Ranch—the Vaqueros' home course—has been rescheduled to March 16. Thus, Santa Barbara next competes on February 23 in Riverside at Victoria Country Club.
