MOORPARK, Calif. – James Reach scored 15 points to lead scoring for Santa Barbara City College, but the Vaqueros fell to Moorpark 81-67 on Wednesday.
The Raiders jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, holding a 41-28 lead at halftime.
Reach added a team-high 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Brycen Matthews added 13 points, 5 boards and 3 assists of his own.
Mason Thomas led the bench in scoring with 7 points, while Joe Ursich made the most of his time on the floor with 4 points and 3 rebounds.
Jack Berry was held to 9 points. This marks the fourth time in the last six games that Berry has been held to single digits in the points column.
The Vaqs shot the ball well, including a respectable 39.4% from beyond the arc. However, Moorpark was shooting lights out, converting 56.5% from 3-point range.
Santa Barbara has dropped three straight for a season record of 10-7 and is 0-1 in conference play.
The Vaqs play again at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Oxnard before returning to Robertson Gymnasium on Wednesday to host Ventura.
