MONTEREY BAY, CA – On day two of the Monterey Bay Classic, the SBCC men's basketball team fell to Foothill 67-55.
Forward Aidan Mandel led the team in scoring again with 13 points and was just one rebound shy of a double-double. He reached double-figures for the sixth straight game and eighth time in his first nine outings as a Vaquero.
Wilfrid Nado was the Vaqueros' second-leading scorer with 11 points, while fellow starting guard Jaelen Bates added 10 points on 3-of-6 from the field.
SBCC (1-8) trailed 28-21 at halftime and couldn't find a way to get stops, allowing the Owls (5-3) to shoot 53.8 percent as a team. The Vaqueros did own a 39-29 edge in rebounds and shot 16-of-21 from the free throw line compared to Foothill's 5-of-15, but turnovers hurt them. SBCC finished with 16 giveaways to the Owls' nine.
