The Southern California Football Association announced changes in its divisions and leagues. They also added a new league – the Metro League in the American Division.
SCFA story listing the new alignment
After playing in an eight-team league for the last eight years, the American Pacific League will now consist of six teams for the next two-year cycle. Santa Barbara, Antelope Valley, L.A. Pierce and L.A. Valley remain in the league along with new members Hancock and Citrus.
Santa Monica, which has dominated the American Pacific League in recent years, was moved up to the National Division and will play in the Northern League where Hancock used to be. The Corsairs went 11-0 this year and have won 34 straight APL games and the last four league titles.
Hancock, Citrus, Pasadena and Santa Ana moved down to the American Division. There are now six leagues in the SCFA – the Northern, Central and Southern in the National Division and the Metro, Mountain and Pacific in the American Division.
Glendale, L.A. Southwest and West L.A. were moved from the American Pacific League to the American Metro.
"We're excited about the new alignment and the competitiveness of the teams," said Vaquero coach Craig Moropoulos. "This is evident in the teams' records over the past few years. The SCFA is working toward parity and I think they got it right."
