Bio
Jason Wutsch enters his 2nd season as the Vaqueros pitching coach for the 2025-26 season.
During the 2024-25 campaign, the Vaqueros were the WSC North Champions for the 3rd straight year and had the lowest conference ERA in that same stretch.The pitching staff for the Vaqueros led the WSC North in ERA, Hits Allowed, Runs Allowed, and were second in Strikeouts, K/9, WHIP, and Home Runs Allowed.
Wutsch’s staff featured three all conference pitchers, including the Conference Pitcher of the Year, Joe Talarico (now heading to UCONN), as well as two honorable mentions. Additionally, four pitchers signed to Division I programs (UCONN, LMU, Purdue, and UC Riverside), including Nick Putnam who signed professionally with the Los Angeles Dodgers, one signed to Division III (Cal Lutheran), and two signed to NAIA (Hope University and Tennessee Wesleyan).
During the summer, Wutsch was the pitching coach for the Santa Barbara Foresters, working with a total of 23 Division I pitchers over the course of the season, headlined by Frank Camarillo (UCSB & drafted in the 13th round by the New York Mets). .
Prior to joining SBCC, Jason was an assistant coach at College of Marin, the Head JV & Assistant Varsity Coach with The Branson School, and prior to that, a volunteer assistant pitching coach at CSU, Monterey Bay.
In his collegiate playing career, Wutsch was a 1st team All-Bay Valley Conference award winner during his sophomore year at College of Marin in 2018, pitching to a 2.94 ERA across 67.1 innings. Wutsch then transferred to CSUMB where he was a CCAA All-Academic performer during his senior year. In his collegiate playing and coaching career, Wutsch’s teams have made the playoffs every year.
Coach Wutsch grew up in Petaluma, California, received his B.A in Business Administration from CSUMB, and his Master's Degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science with the University of South Dakota. He has previous experience with the Healdsburg Prunepackers, Norcal Baseball, California Warriors, and San Francisco Giants - Junior Giants.
