Rubalcaba's pinch-hit slam ignites offense in 9-6 comeback win over Chaffey

Alonzo Rubalcaba didn't start Saturday's non-conference baseball game but he certainly had the finishing touch. SBCC erased a 4-1 deficit by scoring eight runs in its last four at-bats to beat Chaffey 9-6.

Vaqueros split with Saddleback in dramatic fashion

SBCC spotted Saddleback a 5-0 lead in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday in Mission Viejo, then erupted for nine runs in the last three innings to pull out a 13-10 victory. The nightcap was tight throughout until the Vaqueros tied it 7-7 on an RBI single by Zach Jensen in the 9th, only to see the Gauchos win it on a two-out, walk-off RBI single by Alex Zerfass.

SBCC lost most of its pitching from last year's WSC North championship baseball squad with its top four pitchers all playing for NCAA Div. 1 teams this year -- Ian Churchill (last year's State Pitcher of the Year, Arizona); Conner Roberts (UCSB); Jack Aldrich (Tulane) and Dylan Porter (Washington State).
