After tying the singles 3-3 on Friday afternoon, SBCC dropped all three doubles sets to Fullerton and lost a 6-3 non-conference women's tennis match at Pershing Park.

The Vaqueros (14-3) were playing their third match in four days. The Hornets improved to 11-5.

Anya Nicolaides overcame deficits of 5-4 and 6-5 to get to a tiebreaker in the third set of No. 3 singles. She won the tiebreaker 7-4 to forge the 3-3 tie.

The Buyse sisters, Jamaica and Joica, dropped a tough 9-7 set at No. 1 doubles.

"Overall the girls played with heart and battled through different injuries across the board," said SBCC coach Christina Klein. "Jamaica Buyse especially battled to play in doubles with an ankle injury. I have a feeling when we're rested, we could come back and beat this team in the playoffs if we happened to face them."

The Vaqueros (12-0 in WSC) will host second-place Bakersfield (10-1) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Santa Barbara can clinch its first WSC title in 18 years with a victory. The Vaqueros beat the Renegades 7-2 on Feb. 26 in Bakersfield.
