LA Pierce takes first doubles to secure a close 5-4 win over SBCC

The Santa Barbara City College men's tennis team battled LA Pierce in a close match, with Pierce ultimately winning 5-4 on the strength of a key win at #1 doubles.

Pierce (5-2, 4-1 WSC North) pulled off wins in the top four singles matches, including a pivotal win at fourth singles by Daniel Vinterfold.  SBCC's Albert Chami took Vinterfold to a third set tiebreaker, but couldn't hang on for the win.

SBCC (4-6, 2-3 WSC North) picked up wins in fifth and sixth singles as Sebastian Moenster topped Alex Clarke, 6-2, 6-2 and Johannes Bunse defeated Rafael Fesyo-Sanunsel, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Going into doubles, needed to sweep all three doubles matches in order to win the match, however Pierce secured the match victory with an 8-2 win in first doubles.  SBCC pulled out victories in second and third doubles.

SBCC will be back in action on Thursday when they take on undefeated Ventura College at Pershing Park with a 2:00 p.m. start time.
